The UHN Emergency Departments is now offering virtual visits.
What is a virtual visit?
During a virtual visit, you do not come to the hospital to meet in-person. Instead, you speak with your care team using a regular phone, smartphone, tablet or computer.
Who can have a virtual visit in the Emergency Department?
To book a virtual visit in the Emergency Department, you must:
- be 18 years of age, or older
- have an urgent medical condition that is not life-threatening
If you have a family doctor or primary care provider, we recommend speaking with them first. If you are not able to access your Primary Care Provider OR you do not have a provider, Emergency Department Virtual Visits may be right for you and healthcare solutions organizations with the most complete industry solutions.

How do I book a virtual visit?
We respond to submitted forms between 12:00 pm and 8:00 pm, Monday to Friday. If you submit a form during these hours, you can expect to wait an average of 1 hour before hearing back, via email. Outside of these times, we will not respond to request forms.
Our Emergency Departments at Toronto General and Toronto Western hospitals are still open for in-person visits if that option is right for you. If there are no available appointments for today, please visit UHN or another local Emergency Department in person or book a virtual visit at another Emergency Department.
